Student Testimonials
Studying voice in Dr. Caitlin Mohr’s private voice studio has been one of the most formative and affirming experiences in my vocal and artistic development. Her teaching is grounded in deep technical expertise and a genuine care for the whole singer. Whether we were working on vocal registration, aesthetics, or preparing for auditions and performances, I always felt seen, supported, and challenged. She creates an environment where artistry and authenticity can thrive, and I was consistently encouraged to make well-informed, expressive musical choices.

MM Vocal Pedagogy ’25, Boston Conservatory at Berklee; Adjunct Instructor, Salem State University
As a student focused on musical theater, I was especially grateful for Dr. Mohr’s commitment to meeting me where I was stylistically. While her education is deeply rooted in classical music, she went truly above and beyond to help me achieve my goals. She hosted Matt Edwards through CFNATS, conducted her own extensive research on teaching and singing pop music, and even organized a musical theater masterclass with Natalie Weiss. Dr. Mohr played an instrumental role in preparing me for auditions and performances across a wide range of opportunities such as theatre productions, cruise lines, theme parks and vocal competitions.

She consistently encouraged me to be a stronger musician as well as artist. Dr. Mohr’s extensive knowledge of classical repertoire helped me to expand my comfort zone and become a more versatile musician. During my time in her studio, I worked on repertoire from Handel to Sondheim and everything in between. She was also willing to work with me on personal goals that I brought to lessons, including exploring Czech and Russian language pieces. A constant advocate for her students, Dr. Mohr ensured that there were ample performance opportunities for students both in her studio and out. While in her studio, I gave two student recitals, competed in NATS, sang various solos with professional choirs, and performed in my first opera. Dr. Mohr also worked to find opportunities for students to engage with the arts in our community, whether it was bringing students to the opera or working to connect students with competition, and master classes in the area.

My experience having Dr. Caitlin Mohr as my voice teacher began the fall of senior year. It was time to prepare and record graduate school auditions, and I made it through the process because of her guidance and skill as a voice instructor. She cultivated a lesson environment where I could acknowledge how much I had on my plate without letting it intimidate or derail me from my progress. Being in Dr. Mohr’s studio showed me that giving yourself grace and allowing time to rest as a singer is just as important as finding the aspects of music that revive your motivation and remind you of the joys of singing. Her ability to help you find your own, unique instrument and path to success is an incredible help in a singer's journey and her passion for teaching is palpable and unmatched.
— Harry Otero Rivera, baritone
I studied with Dr. Caitlin Mohr for four semesters, and in that time, she completely transformed my instrument and the way I approach singing. Under her guidance, I learned to treat my whole body as part of my technique and to recognize how my physical and mental state directly affect my performance. With her extensive knowledge of vocal pedagogy, she helped expand my range, strengthen my technique, and take on more challenging repertoire that challenged me. Dr. Mohr brings a vibrant, joyful energy to every lesson and knows exactly how to draw that same spark out of her students. She holds us to real-world professional standards and has an incredible ability to nurture both artistry and discipline. I wouldn’t be the singer I am today without her.

Dr. Mohr has changed my life and my voice! When I came back to study a few years after graduation and asked to start lessons again in preparation to audition for graduate schools, not only did she agree to teach me, she threw herself into helping me prepare for every element of the grad school application process. I grew by leaps and bounds both vocally and personally during my time studying with Dr. Mohr, and received an unbelievably positive response to my auditions as a result of her guidance: I was accepted into all but one of the schools I auditioned for, and ended up with two full ride scholarship offers to choose from! Dr. Mohr also coached me through my first professional opera production and continues to be a source of wisdom, honest feedback, and unconditional support for me.

Studying with Caitlin Mohr for even just one year helped advance my vocal technique and understanding of my voice exponentially. Not only is she incredibly knowledgable in her craft, she also has an ability to explain complex concepts in a way that is clear and simple to understand.
Since she is able to teach multiple styles of singing, I have the opportunity to study opera, art songs, musical theater, and jazz with her. My growth in those genres during that time was absolutely the most tangible of my career.
